Widen Your Mouth in the New Year 5780/2019

Tishri 1, Day31 of 40 days of Teshuvah (Repentance)Rosh Hashanah is on the first day of the month Tishri according to Leviticus 23:23-25, Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath- rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord.’ ”The seventh month is Tishri, the first day celebrate the Feast of Trumpets. But Tishri is also in the Civil Calendar, the First Month. It is called the Head of the Year. So today we celebrate the new Year 5780, Rosh Hashanah.This day is also the birthday of the creation of heaven and earth in Genesis 1. In Genesis 1 God spoke 10 things into existence. As I have already blogged yesterday on FB and www.wellspringisrael.com we begin today the New Year and the Decade of Declaration. Open you Mouth Wide Open and declare the promises of God. Here are 3 ways you can widened your Mouth:1. Praying Sciptures: Years ago I prayed with a man who when he prayed quoted scripture after scripture. His name was David Hysong. I asked him how he did it? He said, “I memorize scripture every week.”2. Your Personal and Private Worship: Including Bible Reading daily. Did you know that according to ancient Jewish Sages there is a Psalms for every year of your life? So if a person is 80 years of age they would read Psalms 81 for that year. You are born and live for year then you celebrate your birthday at the end of the first year. So the day you celebrate your 80th you have begun your 81st year.3. Meditate Upon Scripture: This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” (Joshua 1:8). The Hebrew word used here for “meditate” is hagah, which means literally, “to utter— to murmur, mutter, to make a sound (it can even mean “to moan” or “to growl”!).Joshua was instructed to implement non-stop speaking (declaring) of truth as he prepared to possess what God had already given through promise. God told Joshua that the Word should not depart from his mouth—not only his heart, his peh—his mouth! Joshua’s mouth must continually be speaking or murmuring the word of the Torah—divine instruction! For then would his way be prosperous, and then he would have success!Psalm 1:2 uses this word in the same way regarding the man who walks in God’s blessing: “But his delight is in the law (Hebrew: torah—“instruction”) of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season…whatever he does, he prospers.”The righteous man or woman speaks God’s law night and day. He does not just read it or study it. He speaks it aloud! There is power in this! Our declarations help secure our inheritance. Shalom!
