Today is Tisha B’Av
Today in Biblical history is the day when Israel believed a negative report of the ten spies in Numbers 13:30-31 thru Numbers 14:1-4. This is a day of fasting and mourning. The most solemn day for Israel.
Two times in scripture Jesus’ wept! One time for His friend Lazarus death and the other time as he was coming down from the Mt. of Olives to His entry into Jerusalem for His Triumphant Day. It is said that from Mt. of Olives Jesus could see the temple mound. He could see the priest daily sacrifices. He wept because He new the mourning of Isreal. He knew their history of unbelief. He knew they were sheep without a Shepherd. He wept out of deep compassion.
And yet today Israel and the world continue to be a sheep without a Shepherd. This day, Tisha B’ Av let us pray for the lost sheep of Israel and the World. Pray, Ephesians 1:17-23, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
