The High Priest Garments and The Royal Priesthood
Last week's Torah Portion had to do with the Yah's instruction of the outer garment of the High Priest:
The scripture takes us to a weird place—the anointing of
ear lobes, thumbs and toes…with blood! What does this instruction have to do with you and me, if anything?
Combining these ideas, the application of blood to the ear lobes, thumbs, and toes could suggest that our strength (ears, hands, and feet) needs to be redeemed, transformed, and purified if we are to function effectively as members of the “royal priesthood” (1 Peter 2:9). The ear lobes has to do with our hearing, the thumb has to do with our hands, and the toe has to do with our walk.
Father God knows we need to hear His voice without the clutter of the world. We are to use our hands to work for His Kingdom, and we are to walk in His purposes and will.
How does this happen? Perhaps as we consciously and prayerfully obey Paul’s instruction: “present your bodies as a living
sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship” (Romans 12:1).
May the blood of Yeshua justify us (Romans 5:9) and purify us (1 John 1:7). Perhaps the most relevant, the text states that “the blood of [Messiah will]…cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!” (Hebrews 9:14).
Shalom Shalom!
