Is Deliverance Ministry Legit?

Being a Pastor first, I didn’t like or understand deliverance ministry until, Holy Spirit convicted me of my need to be delivered. The fivefold ministry gifts of Apostle and Prophet anointing is given to the church for deliverance, to set the captive free. The apostle hates disorder and will call things into order and carries a God given authority to dismantle demonic strongholds. The prophet carries an extreme gifting of discernment to know the difference between truth and disception, and light vs darkness.

As a pastor, I judged people who walked in a deliverance mantle and calling. I said things like, “they’re weird, they are to demon focused(and some are), they are of the devil (which is what they called Jesus), and just not safe. Because as a pastor I was a nurturer, a shepherd, a gatherer of the flock. But, I had no tools in my pastoral tool box as pastoral counselor to set the sheep free from demonic strongholds.

I’m so thankful for mentors like Dr. Charles Kraft, author of, “Defeating Dark Angels”, John and Paula Sanford, seasoned deliverance ministered, Jeanette Connell, and Dr. Carolyn Horne, who has written the textbook on setting the multiple personality disordered and altars free in Christ Jesus, for their wisdom and teaching. Another excellent writer is Francis Frangipane, “The Battlefield of the Mind,” and Eugene Edwards, “The Three Kings,” for more teaching.

I have also found that the fivefold gifting of Teacher is needed for people to walk out their cleansing stream and deliverance from demonic strongholds and being demonized.

What I have come to realize is rather than judging the different five fold ministries gifts of Jesus mentioned in Ephesians 4, they are jointly fit together to support one another for the equipping of the saints and unity of Christ.
